FAQs – For Young People

Got questions about Kairos?  Then this is the place to be.

What do I need to do in preparation for Kairos this yearfaq[1]
  1. Find a group leader who is willing to bring you. This could be a youth worker, a parent, or someone from your church and get them to register on line.
  2. Find some friends! Get talking to your mates and get them excited for Kairos Camp – gather everyone together and you’ll have a blast!
  3. Book your ticket – you can do this online here, or via post by downloading the booking form here and sending in a cheque. Remember to look out for our Catered Tickets which are new this year, and include all your main meals at the Kairos Café.
  4. Pack your bags and get excited for camp! Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to get all the news about what will be happening at Kairos.
  5. You can arrive on site from 1pm on Friday.
  6. The event will finish by 1pm on Monday.
What do I need to bring?

Check out the Kairos kit list for ideas of what you might need to bring.

Please be aware that anything that you bring (i.e. phones, money, electronics etc) is at your own risk and is your responsibility during the weekend.

What about showers and toilets?

Not a portaloo in sight here! Hollybush campsite has proper indoor showers and toilets located in the main building.

Is there somewhere to straighten my hair? What about charging my phone?

There are plug sockets and places for you to straighten your hair in the shower/toilet areas. There are also plug sockets around the cafe area that can be used to charge your phone. However, not everyone will be able to do this at once and you must make sure it is both safe to do so and that you are happy to take responsibility for your own phone.

Will there be food available on site?

There will be hot and cold food and drink available throughout the day 8am-11pm at the Kairos Café at very reasonable prices, although the café will be closed during the main meetings. To find out more about what’s on offer in the café click here.

What if I have a Catered Ticket for the weekend?

If you’ve purchased a Catered Ticket for Kairos, all of your main meals have been included in your ticket price and you can choose from a selection of meal deals available each day at the café. You might also want to bring a bit of cash for any extra sweets and snacks through the weekend.

Is there somewhere to buy sweets and drinks throughout the weekend?

Yes sweets, drinks and snacks are available at the Kairos Café all weekend. If you have a catered ticket you might want to bring some extra cash for when those chocolate cravings hit.

How much money do I need to bring?

If you have a Catered Ticket for Kairos then all of your main meals will be included in the ticket price, but you might want to bring a little extra cash for sweets, drinks and snacks. If you have opted for a non-catered ticket, you might want to bring money to spend at the Kairos Café which will be open all day 8am-11pm for hot and cold food and drinks. More info on prices can be found here.

Can I go offsite on my own or with friends?

There is no reason for anyone to go off site throughout the weekend, as all the fun will be happening on site! If for any reason you need to go off site then this needs to be pre-approved with your youth leader and the staff at Reception. (This is for your safety and the safety of the camp.)

What do I do if I am currently on medication?

If you need to take any medication while at Kairos then make sure you speak to your group leader. He/she will be able to talk to you about the best way to look after this.  Kairos does have designated on-site first aiders and a camp nurse, but please remember that you will be responsible for looking after any prescription medication.  If you have any questions please drop us a message.

Can I come for the day/ the afternoon?

Yes; tickets are available just for the day or for certain sessions in the morning/ afternoon/ evening. Find out more about our ticket prices here.
